Construction waste disposal and site collections

Builders skip at a construction site

Renovations, fit-outs and building projects produce waste with very different handling needs. GRIDCO coordinates construction waste disposal across the North East through suitable licensed operators, matching skips, roll-on roll-off containers or collection options to the materials and access on your site.

Covering Newcastle, Northumberland and Teesside from our base in Blyth.

Separate rubble, timber and mixed building waste

Describe the project before ordering a container. Bricks, concrete and rubble are heavy; timber and packaging take up space without the same weight. A container suitable for light mixed waste may not be suitable for a full load of dense material. We check loading restrictions and the receiving facility's acceptance terms with the operator.

Separate plasterboard, electrical equipment, hazardous materials and other restricted wastes as instructed. Do not mix unknown demolition material into a general skip. Suspected asbestos needs a specialist assessment; GRIDCO does not promise asbestos removal as part of an ordinary construction collection.

Site access, container exchanges and permits

We need space for safe vehicle access, lifting and container placement, including overhead restrictions and the condition of the ground. Tell us about gates, working hours, traffic management and any delivery restrictions. Larger projects may benefit from planned container exchanges rather than waiting for an overflowing skip.

A skip placed on a public road usually needs a permit from the relevant council, and parking controls can also apply. Confirm who arranges the permit and any suspension before delivery. Requested delivery or exchange times remain subject to operator confirmation.

Construction waste compliance and pricing

Construction and demolition waste are business waste. Your duty of care includes describing waste accurately and using authorised routes. England's workplace recycling rules also cover relevant food and recyclable packaging waste at construction sites; these should not simply be compacted into other construction waste.

Quotes depend on material, container size, weight, hire duration, exchanges and access. Every waste collection job gets a waste transfer note; every commercial customer receives a monthly waste report every month. We do not claim that all construction waste can be recycled or promise a recovery rate without supporting records.

What to tell us for a quote

  • Project postcode and site access photographs
  • Waste types, including any suspect or contaminated material
  • Estimated quantity and heavy-material proportion
  • Required container dates and exchange frequency

Included with our waste services

Equipment supplied on a hire-only basis is not a waste collection. Waste transfer notes apply to waste collection jobs, not hire-only delivery.

Construction waste disposal FAQs

Can rubble go in a large RoRo container?

Not automatically. Dense rubble can exceed vehicle and container weight limits. We confirm the appropriate container and fill limit with the operator before booking.

Can plasterboard go in a mixed construction skip?

Declare plasterboard separately. Acceptance and segregation depend on the receiving route, so do not load it into a general mixed skip without the operator's agreement.
